English Schools Foundation (ESF) is the largest provider of English-medium international education in Hong Kong. The foundation operates 23 schools under a shared vision, providing educational resources and a network of teachers across its institutions.
ESF provides education from K1 to Year 13 for more than 18,500 students each year. Zoning restrictions have been removed, meaning no matter where a family lives in Hong Kong, parents are free to apply to any ESF school.

Chinese learning
Mandarin is a core subject at all ESF primary schools. At secondary, students can study Chinese as a first or additional language, and at a native level for the IB Bilingual Diploma.

Additional fees
Through-train schools: non-refundable building levy
Debenture or capital levy
To gain priority for an interview, parents can apply for a Kindergarten Class A Debenture for admission to K1, or Individual Nomination Rights for admission to a primary, secondary or through-train school. All ESF primary and secondary schools require a non-refundable capital levy.
After-school activities
Numerous after-school activities are offered at all ESF schools, and pupils are encouraged to participate.
Application guide
Central applications for 2026-27 K1, Year 1 and Year 7 are open from September 1-30. Applications for all year groups are accepted at any time. Applications will be waitlisted and applicants invited to an interview once a place becomes available.
